Over the last 60 years Pauline has worked in the suburbs of Brisbane, Newcastle and the inner-city suburbs of Sydney, mainly around Kings Cross, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Surry Hills and Waterloo. Bringing God’s love and care to the vulnerable in our City, those who were poor, tossed aside by a Society that considers them worthless.
On Thursday 26 February 43 parishioners from John the Baptist Parish, Bonnyrigg Heights were privileged to visit the Centre. We were enthusiastically greeted by the staff and made to feel very welcome. We were able to spend time in the Centre, viewing historical items and a video of the life and work of Eileen and Our Lady’s Nurses of the Poor.
Today our Eileen O’Connor Catholic College community gathered in gratitude and joy as we celebrated the birthday of Eileen O’Connor, the courageous and compassionate woman whose legacy continues to shape our mission and our hearts.
On January 10, we celebrated the Anniversary Mass for Servant of God Eileen O’Connor at St Brigid’s Church, Coogee. About one hundred people attended despite the temperatures reaching over 40c. We were blessed with cool ocean breeze that moved through the church as the congregation came together to pray and sing honouring Eileen, Fr McGrath and the Sisters who have worked tirelessly to help the poor in Sydney, Minto, Macquarie Fields, Newcastle, and Brisbane.
Saturday 10th January 2026 marks the 105th anniversary of the death of Eileen O’Connor Servant of God. The Sisters warmly welcome you to join them as they celebrate with Mass at St Brigid’s Church, Brook Street Coogee at 10.30am.
Our centre welcomed a special guest — Father Cyrille Debris, a priest visiting from the Diocese of Rouen in France, who found out about Eileen while in South Australia and was keen to visit her. Being the postulator for Servant of God Zita, Empress of Austria and Apostolic Queen of Hungary, Fr Cyrille found many connections with Our Lady’s Nurses, Eileen and with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

Waverley Cemetery (St Thomas St & Trafalgar St, Bronte) is a fascinating destination in its own right, but even more so that it is the final resting place of Eileen O’Connor’s parents, Irish immigrants Charles and Annie.
