Celebrating Sr Pauline 60 & Sr Kerry’s 62 years of service

Sr Kerry Macdermott and Sr Pauline Fogarty

Over the last 60 years Pauline Fogarty has worked in the suburbs of Brisbane, Newcastle and the inner-city suburbs of Sydney, mainly around Kings Cross, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Surry Hills and Waterloo.  Bringing God’s love and care to the vulnerable in our City, those who were poor, tossed aside by a Society that considers them worthless. But to Pauline and Our Lady’s Nurses, they are precious, God’s special children.

Pauline has cared for them in their homes, giving them comfort and understanding for all these years, listening to their story, never judging, always being there at the foot of their cross, like Mary was for Jesus. Pauline’s obedience to God has been to respond to the needs of the poor, whatever they are and by being an advocate for them. Going to court with them, appealing to landlords for them and interceding with tribunals on their behalf. Finding shelter, if possible, never giving up and providing them with food and clothing.

Thank you, Pauline, for your dedication and all you have done for God’s little ones. May you have a very happy 60th Jubilee and may Jesus and Mary and our Little Mother, Eileen O’Connor be at your side always. God Bless you.

Written by Sr Kerry Macdermott who celebrated her 62nd Jubilee on the same day.
