The cause begins

His Eminence Cardinal Norman Gilroy, approves the following prayer for the beatification of Eileen O’Connor: O God, who raised up your servant Eileen to enrich your Church with a new congregation devoted to the spiritual and corporal assistance of the sick and dying poor, grant that through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, she may be honoured with the privilege of beatification by Our Holy Mother, the Church. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The prayer is regarded as the first formal step in the cause for the beatification of Eileen O’Connor. Another 44 years will pass before a formal report on the merits of the proposed cause of beatification of Eileen Rosaline O’Connor is completed.
