Eileen’s thoughts on compassion

Eileen’s thoughts on compassion

“See all Our Lord suffered in the garden. Think of how He loved, and loves us; think of the pain,

“See all Our Lord suffered in the garden. Think of how He loved, and loves us; think of the pain, of all He faced, undertook for us, of our ingratitude, coldness, of how all this was before Him. Hear Him speak to His Father. See Him left alone.”

“Think of how Our Lord gave all for us as He was nailed to the cross, a cold wooden cross, stripped even of His clothing. Think of how it was dragged from His aching body, a body cut and bruised for our sins.”

Eileen O’Connor, co-founder of Our Lady’s Nurses for the Poor.

Reflection (1 Peter 4:12–13): My dear friends do not be surprised at the painful test you are suffering as though something unusual were happening to you. Rather be glad that you are sharing Christ sufferings so that you may be full of joy when his glory is revealed.

Prayer: Promise Our Lord to try harder to rise above self. Amen.
