2024 MASS OF THANKSGIVING

2024 MASS OF THANKSGIVING

“We pray that our shared belief in the primacy of love might give fresh heart to the world.”

10 January 2024. More than 300 devotees of Eileen O’Connor shared a love-filled Mass of Thanksgiving held at St Brigid’s Catholic Church, Coogee, to commemorate the 103rd anniversary of her death. Mass was celebrated by Most Rev. Terry Brady, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Of Sydney. In his homily, Bishop Brady spoke of the parallels between the braveness, compassion and generosity of St Brigid and Eileen O’Connor. Mass was followed by a morning tea hosted by Our Lady’s Nurses for the Poor in the Parish hall, with many later visiting Our Lady’s Home to pray at Eileen’s tomb or to view archival items. We thank St Brigid’s Parish for their warm welcome and Bishop Brady for his loyalty and love for Eileen O’Connor. It was a beautiful day for all. Back row: Fr Bob Irwin msc, Fr John Knight PP, Fr Thoi Tran msc, Fr Peter Hendricks msc. Middle row: Fr Paul Smithers PP, Fr Anthony Robbie PP and Bishop Terry Brady.
